This means it is used to prevent poor bone development in growing children and to maintain bone health in the elderly.

How to take

Adult dose

Individuals aged 8 years and older and adults should take 1 tablet once daily.

Child dose

Children aged 8 years and older should take 1 tablet once daily.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by patients with hypercalcemia, sarcoidosis, or those with kidney disease. Additionally, individuals with allergic reactions to this medication or its components, infants under 12 months old, those with kidney stones, and patients with severely impaired kidney function should avoid taking this medication. While taking this medication, it is advisable to avoid concurrently using phosphates, calcium salts, oral tetracycline antibiotics, and antacids. Women undergoing treatment, those who are pregnant or may become pregnant, breastfeeding mothers, and premature or young infants should discuss with a healthcare professional before taking this medication. Patients with heart or circulatory issues, reduced kidney function, low protein levels, those taking cardiac glycosides, and individuals with a history of kidney stones need to consult before taking. If symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, hypotension, facial flushing, irregular heartbeat, or skin rashes occur while taking this medication, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Additionally, caution is required as overdose may lead to gastrointestinal issues, hypernatremia, congestive heart failure, and edema. If taking for a prolonged period, regularly check for hypercalcemia or kidney stones. Particularly, when used with aldosterone antagonists or triamterene, there is a risk of increased potassium levels in the blood, warranting caution.
