View approved original text

This medication is used as an adjunct to dietary therapy to reduce elevated triglyceride levels in patients with endogenous hypertriglyceridemia. It can be administered alone for hypertriglyceridemia (Type IV) and is used in combination with statins to enhance therapeutic effects in mixed hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia (Type IIb). Additionally, it is combined with statins for treatment when triglyceride levels are not adequately controlled. It effectively helps manage triglyceride levels in patients with various forms of hyperlipidemia.

Precautions

This medication contains omega-3 fatty acids and is used to lower blood triglyceride levels. This medication should not be used in patients with allergic reactions to its components or in children under 18 years of age. Patients at risk of bleeding due to severe trauma or surgery, those with poor liver function, and patients with fish allergies should exercise caution when using this medication. Adverse effects such as indigestion, headaches, dizziness, and skin rashes may occur during the use of this medication, so if any unusual symptoms persist, a consultation with a doctor is advised. Patients with cardiovascular diseases or risk factors may require regular check-ups as there is a potential for side effects such as atrial fibrillation during medication use. Before taking this medication, it is important to check blood triglyceride levels and to try non-pharmacological treatments such as weight loss or dietary management first. Regular blood tests should be conducted during treatment to monitor liver function and cholesterol levels, and if no effects are observed, discontinuation of the medication may be necessary. This medication can affect blood clotting, so the risk of bleeding may increase if anticoagulants or acetylsalicylic acid are taken concurrently; consulting with healthcare professionals is essential. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use this medication cautiously only when necessary, as the effects on the fetus or infant are not fully understood. It is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years of age as safety and efficacy have not been established. In the case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so treatment and supportive care according to symptoms are required. This medication must be kept out of reach of children, and care should be taken not to transfer it to another container as this may affect its quality.
