Maintenance of pregnancy and improvement of success rate through luteal phase supplementation
This medication is used to supplement the hormone needed during the luteal phase in women's assisted reproductive technology (ART) procedures, improving the environment of the endometrium and helping the fertilized egg to implant well. This is used to increase the success rate of pregnancy.
Starting from oocyte retrieval, insert 400 mg intravaginally twice a day. If pregnancy is confirmed, continue administering the medication for 38 days.
This medication should be stopped if there are problems with the heart or cerebrovascular system, or if thrombosis is suspected. It is not suitable for threatened miscarriage, and if a missed miscarriage occurs, administration should be stopped immediately. It should not be used in patients with allergies to any components of this medication or those with unexplained vaginal bleeding. Patients with hormone-sensitive malignant tumors or those with severely impaired liver function should also avoid treatment. It is safer not to use it in patients with a history of thrombosis or those currently experiencing active thrombosis. Women with risk factors for thrombosis should carefully weigh the risks and benefits before using this medication, and should also remember that pregnancy itself increases the risk of thrombosis. Patients with a history of depression should monitor their symptoms closely and may need to discontinue the medication if symptoms worsen. Diabetic patients should carefully observe blood sugar changes while taking this medication, and patients with impaired liver function should also use it cautiously. This medication can cause a variety of side effects such as drowsiness, abdominal pain, diarrhea, rash, breast pain, and vaginal bleeding, so if abnormal symptoms occur, consultation with medical personnel is necessary. Before treatment and during long-term treatment, uterine and breast examinations should be performed, and if irregular vaginal bleeding occurs, the cause must be determined. Patients with convulsions, migraines, asthma, heart, or renal diseases due to fluid retention should be monitored closely. It should not be used in conjunction with other intravaginal treatments, and if liver tumors are suspected, it should be discontinued. If visual disturbances, severe headaches, or symptoms of thrombosis occur, administration should be stopped immediately. This medication does not have contraceptive effects and is not suitable for the prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis. The safety in patients with impaired liver or kidney function has not been sufficiently confirmed. The effect on driving or operating machinery is unknown but caution is advised. Co-administration with some drugs that induce liver enzymes may reduce its efficacy, and some antibiotics may also decrease its effect. Additionally, this medication may increase the effects of certain drugs, so medical personnel should be informed when taken with other medications. Smoking may reduce the efficacy of this medication, and alcohol abuse may increase its effect. It should not be used during the first 3 months of pregnancy, and it is safest not to take this medication while breastfeeding. There is insufficient experience for proper use in children or the elderly, so caution is needed. In case of overdose, treatment should be administered according to symptoms, and this medication should be kept out of the reach of children.
