This medication helps treat cholesterol gallstones and improves liver function due to primary biliary cholangitis. It is also used to enhance liver function in patients with chronic hepatitis C.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

1. Cholesterol gallstones: 200-250 mg orally 3 times a day. 2. Primary biliary cholangitis: 200-300 mg orally 3 times a day with meals. 3. Chronic hepatitis C: 200 mg orally 3 times a day. If necessary, the dose may be increased to 300 mg orally 3 times a day.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals who are allergic to certain ingredients. In cases of severe obstruction in the bile duct, this medication may worsen symptoms, so it should be avoided. Patients with acute hepatitis may also experience worsening symptoms when taking this medication. It should not be used if there are gallstones that do not show up well on radiographs or if there is a non-functioning gallbladder.
