How to take

Adult dose

Levonorgestrel 1.5 mg should be taken orally as a single dose. It should be taken as soon as possible after intercourse, and it is recommended to take it within 12 hours. It must be taken no later than 72 hours (3 days) after intercourse. If vomiting occurs within 3 hours of taking the medication, the same dose should be taken immediately again.

Precautions

This medication is intended for temporary use as an emergency contraceptive and should not be used continuously as a substitute for regular contraceptive methods. Taking this medication does not guarantee perfect prevention of all pregnancies, especially in cases where the timing of intercourse is uncertain. If your scheduled menstrual period is delayed by more than 5 days, or if you experience abnormal bleeding or any symptoms suggesting pregnancy, you should visit a medical facility to confirm whether you are pregnant. Women who are allergic to this medication or who are pregnant or may become pregnant, patients with severe liver disease, and those with certain genetic disorders such as lactose intolerance should not take this medication. If there is a risk of ectopic pregnancy, if you have severe gastrointestinal conditions such as Crohn's disease, or if you have heart or kidney disorders, you should take this medication with caution and consult a doctor. After taking this medication, side effects such as dizziness, headache, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, breast discomfort, delayed menstruation or heavy bleeding, and fatigue may occur. Most side effects resolve within 2 days, but skin allergic reactions or serious thrombosis have been reported rarely, so if you experience unusual symptoms, you should consult a doctor immediately. You should only take this medication once during a menstrual cycle, and if you are uncertain about the timing of intercourse or have had additional intercourse, its effectiveness may diminish. Additionally, after taking this medication, non-hormonal contraceptive methods such as condoms must be used until your next menstrual period begins. This medication will not be effective if taken more than 72 hours after intercourse, and if you have additional intercourse within 72 hours after taking this medication, there remains a possibility of pregnancy. This medication does not prevent sexually transmitted infections, so separate measures are necessary for STD prevention. After taking this medication, you must consult a doctor before starting regular contraceptive methods, and if you have no menstruation during the next placebo period, pregnancy should be ruled out. This medication may be rapidly degraded in the body when taken with drugs that activate certain liver enzymes, so you must inform your doctor if you are taking such medications. You should not take this medication during pregnancy, and if taken during pregnancy, it may affect the fetus, so you should consult medical personnel. Since this medication can be passed into breast milk, it is recommended to refrain from breastfeeding for at least 8 hours after taking it. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, and symptoms may include nausea or bleeding, so treatment should be based on the symptoms. This medication should be kept away from direct sunlight and stored out of the reach of children; it should not be stored outside its original packaging.
