Precautions

This medication should not be taken by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as the rhubarb ingredient can cause uterine contractions or increase blood flow to pelvic organs, raising the risk of premature birth or miscarriage. Additionally, this medication should not be taken by women who are breastfeeding, as some components of rhubarb can transfer to breast milk and cause diarrhea in infants. It is advisable for individuals with allergies or sensitivities to soybean oil, beans, and peanuts not to take this medication. During the use of this medication, do not take other antidiarrheal drugs together, as their interaction may exacerbate side effects. Patients with hypertension, heart disease, kidney disease, edema, elderly individuals, patients taking other medications, those with diarrhea or loose stools, individuals with weak gastrointestinal function, and those experiencing loss of appetite, nausea, or vomiting must consult a healthcare professional before taking this medication. Special care is also needed for individuals who are severely weakened after illness, sweat excessively, have a history of heart disease, suffer from urination disorders, have hyperthyroidism, have experienced a drug-induced skin rash or itching, or are diabetic. This medication contains Yellow No. 5, and caution should be exercised if allergic to this ingredient. Patients with lipid metabolism disorders, hyperlipidemia, diabetic dyslipidemia, or pancreatitis should also be careful when taking this medication. If symptoms of hyperaldosteronism (edema, increased blood pressure, headache, etc.), muscle weakness, gastrointestinal discomfort (abdominal pain, diarrhea, etc.), skin rash or itching, autonomic nervous system dysfunction (insomnia, excessive sweating, rapid heartbeat, etc.), urination disorders, or liver function abnormalities occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. If taken for constipation treatment, if symptoms do not improve after 1 week, discontinue use and consult with a professional. This medication should ideally not be taken for long periods; if it must be taken for an extended time, consult a healthcare professional. Long-term use of irritant laxatives can lead to increased drug tolerance and worsen constipation. Always adhere to the prescribed dosage and administration. The promoting effect of rhubarb on bowel movements may vary between individuals, so caution should be exercised. When used in conjunction with other herbal preparations, be cautious of ingredient overlap, especially to avoid duplicating rhubarb constituents. When taken with Ma-huang, ephedrine, MAO inhibitors, thyroid preparations, catecholamines, or xanthine-based medications, side effects such as insomnia, excessive sweating, increased heart rate, and mental agitation may occur, so dosage adjustment and caution are necessary. Combining with potassium-containing preparations, licorice-containing preparations, or diuretics may increase the risk of hypokalemia and myopathy, so these should be taken with caution. For patients with lipid metabolism disorders, blood lipid levels should be monitored, and the dosage adjusted if necessary. This medication should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children. It is safest to keep it sealed in its original container.
