Prevention and treatment of vitamin C deficiency, effective in promoting capillary hemorrhage and bone union.
This medicine is used to prevent and treat vitamin C deficiency. It is particularly effective for diseases caused by a lack of vitamin C such as scurvy. It is also helpful for women during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for those engaged in heavy physical labor when the demand for vitamin C increases. It may be applied to capillary bleeding associated with vitamin C deficiency or metabolic disorders, side effects due to medication, promotion of osteoid formation and bone union during fractures. It is effective for melasma, freckles, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and photosensitivity dermatitis. Therefore, this medication is used to improve vitamin C deficiency and its related symptoms.
As ascorbic acid, administer 50~1,000 mg once daily, or divided into two to several subcutaneous, intramuscular, or intravenous injections. Adjust dose according to age and symptoms.
Care should be taken when opening the injection container as glass fragments may mix in. Particular caution is required when used in children or elderly. This medicine should not be used by those who are allergic to this medicine or any of its components. Additionally, individuals with certain conditions, such as hyperoxaluria, thalassemia, gout, cystinuria, G6PD deficiency, or those with oxalate stones in the kidneys should not use this medication. High doses may cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, heartburn, abdominal pain, fatigue, facial flushing, headache, and insomnia. In particular, if taken in doses above 1 gram per day, urine may become acidic, increasing the risk of diarrhea and kidney stones. Moreover, consuming more than 600 milligrams per day may result in diuretic effects. Caution is also needed as high doses can potentially cause hemolytic anemia in patients with specific deficiencies. Excessive consumption may cause the formation of stones in the urinary tract. This medication is usually taken orally, but injections should only be administered in acute conditions or when oral intake is difficult. It is advisable not to combine this medicine with certain medications, alcohol, smoking, some antibiotics, anticonvulsants, and oral contraceptives, as these may affect its efficacy. During pregnancy, this medicine should only be used when strictly necessary, as its safety for the fetus is not confirmed, and high doses should be avoided. This medicine can be transferred through breast milk, but it is not harmful to the baby at standard doses. It is recommended to inform healthcare providers about this medication before undergoing certain clinical tests as it may affect the results. Overdosing may lead to diarrhea or kidney stones, so if symptoms occur, use should be stopped immediately, and medical attention sought. When administering by injection, pain may occur at the injection site, so it should be administered with the smallest effective dosage, and the injection site should be changed frequently. When administered intravenously, injecting too quickly can result in dizziness or vascular pain, so it should be injected slowly. This medicine should be kept out of reach of children, stored in a dry place away from direct sunlight, and kept in its original container to maintain its quality and prevent misuse.
Hemolysis (possible in patients with G6PD deficiency)
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, heartburn, abdominal cramps, fatigue, flushing, headache, insomnia, diuresis, temporary mild pain at the injection site, vascular pain, dizziness, fainting, blood reflux, pain.

This medicine is sensitive to light, so it should be stored in a tightly secured container that blocks light. Additionally, it is crucial to store it at refrigerated temperatures between 2 degrees and 8 degrees Celsius to maintain its effectiveness.
