Initial treatment effect for recurrent herpes labialis
For the initial treatment of recurrent herpes labialis, medications are used that suppress the progression of symptoms and relieve pain. Typically, antiviral agents are prescribed, and this medication prevents the proliferation of the virus to avoid worsening of symptoms. It is important to start treatment quickly when initial symptoms appear. This can reduce the duration and severity of symptoms, helping the patient recover quickly. Therefore, it is used for the initial treatment of recurrent herpes labialis.
Apply an appropriate amount to cover the edges of the affected area adequately, 5 times a day, for 5 days. Treatment should begin as soon as initial symptoms and signs are visible.
This medication should not be used for certain infections. For example, it can worsen symptoms in patients with bacterial infections such as tuberculosis or syphilis, fungal infections like candidiasis and tinea, and other viral infections excluding herpes simplex. Additionally, individuals with known allergies or hypersensitivity reactions to this medication or its components should not use it. Patients with severe immune compromise, such as bone marrow transplant recipients or AIDS patients, should also avoid this medication. Patients with eczematous external otitis with tympanic membrane perforation or those with ulcers, severe burns, or frostbite should be cautious as skin healing may be delayed. It is recommended that patients with perioral dermatitis, common acne, rosacea, individuals under 18, nursing mothers, and those with a history of myocardial infarction do not use this medication. This medication should not be used on sensitive areas such as the eyes, nose, mouth, or genital areas. While using this medication, it is advisable to avoid simultaneous use of certain drugs, especially those like acyclovir, as drug interactions may alter drug concentrations. Furthermore, it is safe to avoid breastfeeding while using this medication. It is unclear whether the drug is excreted during breastfeeding, so it is prudent to refrain from breastfeeding to reduce unnecessary risks. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult a doctor or pharmacist before using this medication. Due to the lack of sufficient data on safety during pregnancy, it should only be used when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks. Elderly individuals may experience side effects more easily, so they should be closely monitored during use. If skin abnormalities like dryness, peeling, burning, tingling, redness, pigmentation, or inflammation occur, discontinue use immediately and consult healthcare personnel. Care should be taken when using occlusive dressings, as they may lead to contact dermatitis. Prolonged or widespread use may result in various skin side effects including skin atrophy, telangiectasia, acne, and dermatitis. If these symptoms occur, the dosage should be gradually reduced or replaced with another medication that does not contain corticosteroids. Long-term use of this medication may suppress pituitary and adrenal cortex function, hence regular check-ups may be necessary. When applied around the eyes, caution is advised as issues such as increased intraocular pressure or glaucoma may occur. The duration of use for this medication is limited to 5 days, and if symptoms do not improve or worsen, use should be stopped and healthcare personnel consulted. This medication is intended solely for herpes labialis around the lips, and caution is warranted when differentiating between bacterial or fungal infections. This medication can cause skin irritation or allergic reactions, so it must be used strictly according to the prescribed dosage and should not be used by individuals without symptoms. It should not be used for the prevention of infections from others or for the prevention of recurrent herpes simplex. This medication should not be diluted or mixed with other medications, and if used over large areas or with occlusive dressings, monitoring for systemic side effects may be necessary. If vision blurriness or vision abnormalities occur during use, consult an ophthalmologist immediately. Lastly, this medication should be kept out of the reach of children and stored in its original container, sealed properly.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a sealed container to prevent exposure to air or moisture. It should also be stored at room temperature, between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius, ensuring it is neither too hot nor too cold.
