It helps supplement when the dietary intake is insufficient due to increased need for vitamin B1, such as in hyperthyroidism, during pregnancy, lactation, or intense physical labor. It is also used in serious conditions such as Wernicke's encephalopathy and beriberi heart disease. It can be effective for neuropathies, myalgias, peripheral neuritis, cardiac metabolic disorders, gastrointestinal motility disorders, and postoperative intestinal paralysis, all presumed to be caused by vitamin B1 deficiency or metabolic disorders. However, it should not be used for long periods without a clear diagnosis of vitamin B1 deficiency. Overall, this medication is used to improve and treat various symptoms associated with vitamin B1 deficiency.
