View approved original text

This medication is used in combination with diet and exercise to assist with blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. It can be administered as monotherapy but, if a patient has never taken diabetes medication before and finds blood sugar control difficult with monotherapy, it can be used in combination with metformin. Additionally, when sufficient blood sugar control is difficult with monotherapy using sulfonylureas, metformin, thiazolidinediones, or insulin, this medication can also be used in combination. It helps improve blood sugar management even when control is difficult with a combination of several medications, contributing effectively to blood sugar control tailored to various treatment conditions.
