Efficacy & effects

Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes

  • Difficulty in blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes
View approved original text

This medication is used to help control blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. It may be administered alone in the initial stages of treatment along with dietary and exercise regimens. If blood sugar control is difficult with monotherapy, it can be used in combination with metformin. Additionally, this medication can be used in conjunction with sulfonylureas, metformin, thiazolidinediones, or insulin if blood sugar control is inadequate with these sole therapies. By adding this medication among various combination therapies where effectiveness is insufficient, blood sugar control can be improved. Therefore, this medication is very effective for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
