Precautions

This medication is used to treat diabetes and helps control blood sugar levels. While taking this medication, serious allergic reactions may occur rarely, so if you experience symptoms such as skin rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck, you should seek medical attention immediately. Additionally, serious side effects such as pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas, have been reported, so if you experience symptoms like abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting, you should stop taking the medication immediately and consult a doctor. This medication should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis, nor should it be taken by those who are allergic to this medication or its ingredients. Patients with impaired kidney function may need dosage adjustments, so regular kidney function tests are recommended, and it should be taken under the direction of a physician. This medication can be used alone or in combination with other diabetes treatments; however, when taken with insulin or sulfonylureas, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase, so it is important to closely monitor blood sugar levels. Symptoms of hypoglycemia include dizziness, trembling, and cold sweat, and appropriate measures should be taken immediately if these symptoms occur. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding is not recommended, and the safety and efficacy have not been established for children and adolescents under 18 years of age. For the elderly, dosage adjustments and kidney function tests may be necessary due to the possibility of decreased kidney function. In cases of overdose, gastrointestinal decontamination may be needed, and monitoring through an ECG or other tests should be done, and blood dialysis may be helpful if necessary. This medication has been reported to cause side effects such as joint pain or skin disorders in some patients; therefore, if symptoms are severe, consultation with a doctor is advisable. Finally, while this medication does not have significant interactions with many other drugs, it may cause changes in blood concentration when used in conjunction with certain medications, so patients should inform their doctor of any medications they are currently taking.
