This drug is used in conjunction with dietary and exercise therapy to assist in blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. It can also be administered alone, and in cases where sufficient blood sugar control is difficult with monotherapy and the patient has never been on diabetes medication, it can be used in combination with metformin. Additionally, in patients who have insufficient blood sugar control with mono therapy of sulfonylureas, metformin, thiazolidinediones, or insulin, this drug may be added as an adjunct. Even in cases where blood sugar control is difficult despite the combination therapy of multiple drugs, this drug can improve blood sugar management. This drug effectively supports blood sugar control at various stages of treatment.
