Precautions

This medication should be used with caution in women during the first three months of pregnancy or those who may become pregnant, as administering more than 5,000 IU of vitamin A daily poses a risk of congenital anomalies in the fetus. Patients with hypercalcemia, sarcoidosis (a systemic inflammatory disease of unknown origin), and those with renal diseases should not take this medication. Individuals with allergy reactions to this medication or its components, infants under three months, those with kidney stones, and individuals allergic to soybean oil, soybeans, or peanuts should also avoid taking it. Infants under one year old, patients undergoing treatment from a physician, children exposed to much sunlight, patients with hyperoxaluria, and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as premature babies and infants, should consult a healthcare professional before taking this medication. Particularly, excessive intake of vitamin A during early pregnancy can increase the risk of malformations such as neural tube defects in the baby, so special care must be taken regarding vitamin A dosage during pregnancy. Patients with gout or a history of kidney stones, individuals with lipid metabolism disorders, and those allergic to the yellow dye contained in this medication should also use it cautiously. If symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, itching, dry skin, joint pain, or diarrhea occur during the use of this medication, stop taking it immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Long-term use of high doses may lead to tolerance or gastrointestinal ulcers, glucose metabolism disorders, liver damage, and increased risk of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women; hence caution is needed. Dosage must strictly adhere to the prescribed method and dose, and while administering it to children, supervision by a guardian is required. Vitamin A contained in this medication is generally sufficiently provided through regular meals, thus the daily intake should not exceed 5,000 IU during supplementary therapy. It may affect blood sugar detection in urinalysis and can change urine color, so this should be noted during testing. Patients with difficulties in fat metabolism should check plasma lipid levels and adjust the dosage accordingly, especially if utilizing other lipid-injected medications. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, protected from direct sunlight, and kept sealed in a cool, moisture-free place. To maintain quality, do not transfer it to another container, and be careful to prevent misuse.
