(Hypertension, Hypercholesterolemia) Effect on blood pressure control and cholesterol improvement, reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases
This medication is administered to patients with essential hypertension who have difficulty in controlling blood pressure using a combination of telmisartan and amlodipine. Additionally, rosuvastatin is used as an adjunct treatment when dietary therapy and other baseline treatments are insufficient for hypercholesterolemia and familial hypercholesterolemia. This medication helps improve lipid levels in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia and dysbetalipoproteinemia, and slows the progression of atherosclerosis. In elderly patients at high cardiovascular risk, a reduction in risks of stroke, myocardial infarction, and vascular revascularization is also expected. Therefore, this medication is effectively used to treat essential hypertension and hypercholesterolemia.
This medication is taken once daily, and can be taken with or without food, using water. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). Based on the efficacy and tolerability of the telmisartan/amlodipine combination and rosuvastatin, individualize the dosage for each patient. In cases of the telmisartan/amlodipine combination: - 40/5 mg: Administer if blood pressure is inadequately controlled with 5 mg of amlodipine or 40 mg of telmisartan.
This medication should not be used in pregnant women, and if pregnancy is confirmed, administration must be stopped immediately due to serious risks to the fetus and newborn. Patients with hypersensitivity to this medication, certain genetic disorders, severe liver disease, kidney disease, or myopathy should not use it. Caution is advised for the elderly or patients with hypotension, hyperkalemia, or liver disease, especially if muscle pain or weakness symptoms occur, in which case a physician should be consulted immediately. Since this medication may cause muscle-related side effects, it is crucial to regularly check muscle enzyme levels before and during treatment. If severe muscle pain or weakness occurs, the medication may need to be discontinued. Liver function tests are recommended before and during treatment due to potential liver dysfunction. If liver enzyme levels rise significantly, the medication should be discontinued. This medication may interact with several other drugs, so inform your physician or pharmacist of any other medications you are taking. Nursing mothers are advised not to take this medication, and if unavoidable, should discontinue breastfeeding. It is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age as safety and efficacy have not been established. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension and cardiac arrhythmias may occur, so it is essential to contact a medical facility immediately for appropriate treatment.
