This medication is used to treat Alzheimer's disease that ranges from moderate to severe stages. It helps improve memory decline and cognitive function, enhancing the quality of daily life.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication should be taken orally once a day at the same time each day. It may be taken twice a day if necessary. The adult dosage escalation method is as follows: First week 5 mg once a day, Second week 10 mg once a day, Third week 15 mg once a day for 7 days. From the fourth week, 20 mg once a day is administered, with a maintenance dose of 20 mg once a day. Elderly patients aged 65 or older are also recommended to take 20 mg once a day.

Precautions

This medication must not be administered to patients who are allergic to any of its ingredients. It should also not be used in patients with severely impaired liver function or very poor kidney function. Caution is warranted when administering to patients with epilepsy or a history of seizures, or those who have a predisposition to seizures. Additionally, co-administration with other drugs that have similar effects should be avoided, as side effects may worsen. In the case of overdose, serious symptoms such as confusion, drowsiness, hallucinations, and seizures may occur, requiring immediate medical attention, as there is no specific antidote, and symptomatic treatment will be provided. This medication may affect a patient's concentration and reaction speed; therefore, caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery.
