How to take

Adult dose

As sildenafil, the recommended dosage is 25 to 50 mg taken orally approximately 1 hour before sexual activity, once a day. Dosage may be adjusted depending on individual efficacy and tolerability, and it can be taken from 4 hours to 30 minutes before sexual activity.

Precautions

This medication can dilate blood vessels and lower blood pressure, so there is a risk of blood pressure dropping too low when taken with nitrate drugs or nitric oxide (NO) donors. Therefore, the doctor must confirm whether the patient is taking these medications before prescribing this drug, and caution must be exercised to avoid concurrent use during or after treatment. Patients with cardiovascular diseases should thoroughly evaluate their heart condition before using this medication, and it should not be used in cases where sexual activity may strain the heart. This medication can temporarily lower blood pressure when lying down, so patients with underlying cardiovascular diseases should be particularly cautious. Additionally, patients who have had severe arrhythmias, heart failure, unstable angina, hypotension, hypertension, or pigmentary retinopathy in the last six months should use this medication with caution. Prolonged erection (priapism) lasting more than 4 hours may rarely occur; if this happens, immediate medical attention is necessary to prevent permanent damage. This medication may significantly increase blood concentration when taken with certain protease inhibitors, which may require dosage adjustments. Some formulations containing artificial sweeteners should not be administered to patients with phenylketonuria. This medication should not be given to children under 18, women, patients with certain cardiovascular diseases, those with severely compromised liver or kidney function, or those taking other erectile dysfunction treatments. Caution is needed during driving or operating machinery while taking this medication due to potential visual abnormalities or dizziness. Co-administration with alpha-blockers may cause hypotension; therefore, it is advisable to space the dosing and start with a lower dose. Overdose may increase adverse reactions, so the recommended dosage should be followed, and symptomatic treatment should be instituted in cases of overdose. This medication is solely for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and does not provide protection against sexually transmitted diseases, so co-administration with other erectile dysfunction treatments is not recommended. Finally, this medication should be stored out of reach of children and not transferred to other containers.
