This medication is used in conjunction with dietary changes to lower high total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apo B proteins, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, particularly familial and non-familial types, as well as mixed dyslipidemia. In patients at increased risk for atherosclerotic vascular diseases due to hypercholesterolemia, lipid-lowering medications are administered after carefully considering risk factors. This medication is used as an adjunct when dietary and other non-drug treatments, including restrictions on saturated fats and cholesterol, are not effective. Before use, secondary causes of dyslipidemia such as diabetes, hypothyroidism, and chronic renal failure should be checked and treated if necessary. During treatment, monitoring of total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglyceride levels should be conducted regularly, and it is important to examine these levels within 24 hours after an acute coronary event. This medication is effectively used to improve such lipid abnormalities and reduce atherosclerosis risk.
