View approved original text

This medication helps to lower elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, while also increasing levels of HDL cholesterol, which is the good cholesterol. It is also used to reduce the risk of atherosclerotic vascular diseases that may arise from hypercholesterolemia. This medication is administered alongside dietary regimens and is recommended as adjunctive therapy when lifestyle changes and non-drug methods are insufficient. It is important to check and control secondary causes such as diabetes and hypothyroidism before prescribing. Additionally, during treatment, regular monitoring of total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglyceride levels is essential to ensure appropriate therapeutic effects. Thus, this medication is effective in managing dyslipidemia and improving associated cardiovascular risks.
