Improvement of type 2 diabetes (blood sugar control)
This medication is used in conjunction with diet and exercise to help control blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. It can be used as monotherapy, or when blood sugar improvement is inadequate with other oral hypoglycemics, it is administered in combination with sulfonylureas, metformin, or insulin. Additionally, patients with type 2 diabetes require nutritional counseling, weight loss, and regular exercise. These efforts are critical not only for initial treatment but also for maintaining the effectiveness of pharmacotherapy. This medication is effective in improving blood sugar control.
This medication is taken orally once daily, regardless of meals. It can be started at 15 mg once daily as monotherapy, and if the effect is insufficient, the dose can be increased to 30 mg once daily. In combination therapy, it is administered 15 mg once daily along with sulfonylureas, metformin, or insulin, with a maximum recommended dose not to exceed 30 mg once daily.
There is no experience in using this medication in children under 18 years of age, so its administration is not recommended.
