This medication is used to treat fungal infections of the skin such as tinea, pityriasis, and candidiasis. It is also effective against infections caused by yeast fungi such as candidal vulvitis and candidal balanitis. It is used for skin conditions with mixed fungal infection to improve symptoms. Furthermore, it is utilized in the treatment of erythrasma caused by Corynebacterium. In summary, this drug is used to treat various fungal skin infections and associated bacterial infections.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Apply a thin layer to the affected area (site of disease) 2 to 3 times a day and rub gently. The treatment duration varies depending on the severity and location of the disease. Dermatophytosis: 3 to 4 weeks Pityriasis: 1 to 3 weeks Erythrasma: 2 to 4 weeks Candidal vulvitis and candidal balanitis: 1 to 2 weeks If mycologically not cured, treatment is generally continued for about 2 weeks after all symptoms have disappeared.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to imidazole derivatives or its components, or with a history of such hypersensitivity. Patients with hypersensitivity to cetostearyl alcohol should also avoid using this drug. Caution is advised for patients with a history of allergy to propylene glycol or hypersensitivity. If skin irritation or sensitivity reactions occur, or if symptoms worsen during use, discontinue use immediately and seek appropriate treatment. Even if symptoms improve during treatment, do not stop using the medication without consulting a physician for continued treatment. This medication is for topical use only and has minimal systemic absorption, making the risk of systemic side effects low. If a dose is missed, do not use an excessive amount next time; instead, use only the prescribed dose. Towels or clothing that touch the affected area should be changed daily, and the affected area should be cleaned and dried completely before application. If there is no response to this medication, tests should be conducted to determine if another pathogen is involved. Sealed dressings or specific packaging should not be used without a physician's guidance. It is advisable to avoid using acidic soap for candidal infections. Caution is needed when applying it to genital areas as it may temporarily decrease the effectiveness of condoms or intra-vaginal devices. Cetostearyl alcohol may cause local reactions such as contact dermatitis. Effects on driving or operating machinery are unknown. Caution is warranted as efficacy may be reduced when used with certain antifungals. It can be used during pregnancy under physician guidance, but pregnant women must consult a specialist before use. Breastfeeding is also possible; however, it should be washed off before nursing if applied to the nipple. It should not be used in infants under 2 years of age without physician guidance. No cases of toxicity due to overdose have been reported, however, oral ingestion should be avoided, and no specific antidote exists. This drug should not be applied to the eyes and should not be applied to severely damaged skin, and care should be taken to avoid ingestion. Keep out of reach of children and do not transfer to other containers.
