Precautions

This medication may cause severe allergic reactions, so if skin rash, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or neck occurs after use, discontinue immediately and consult a doctor. Additionally, cases of acute pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas, have been reported; if abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting occurs during use, seek medical attention immediately. Should not be administered to patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis, and should also be avoided in cases of allergy to this drug or its ingredients. Patients with decreased renal function may have difficulty excreting the drug, requiring dose adjustment and careful monitoring based on renal function. Hypoglycemic symptoms may occur during use of this medication, especially when taken with insulin or sulfonylureas; blood glucose levels should be monitored carefully and dosage adjusted if necessary. Severe joint pain or blistering skin conditions may occur; inform the doctor immediately if these symptoms arise. Use of this medication is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women, and safety in children under 18 has not been established. Elderly patients may have reduced renal function, thus requiring dose adjustment and regular kidney function testing. In case of overdose, general emergency treatment should be carried out, and it may be considered that blood dialysis can partially remove the drug if necessary. Caution should be exercised with drug interactions when used with other hypoglycemic agents, and dose adjustment may not be necessary for certain medications due to minimal pharmacokinetic changes.
