Effective in treating hypertension and hypercholesterolemia, with a risk reduction for cardiovascular diseases
This medication is used for patients who require simultaneous administration of Olmesartan Medoxomil and Rosuvastatin. Olmesartan Medoxomil is utilized for the treatment of essential hypertension, while Rosuvastatin is used as an adjunct when hypercholesterolemia and hyperlipidemia cannot be managed by diet and exercise alone. Additionally, Rosuvastatin is prescribed for various types of dyslipidemia such as familial hypercholesterolemia and dysbetalipoproteinemia. This medication helps to lower total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol, slowing down the progression of atherosclerosis and reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. It is particularly effective in reducing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and vascular revascularization procedures in middle-aged adults with elevated levels of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein and cardiovascular risk factors. Therefore, this medication improves cardiovascular health by managing both hypertension and hyperlipidemia.
The recommended starting dose of Olmesartan Medoxomil is 10 mg once daily, administered regardless of meals. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled, it may be increased to 20 mg once daily, with a maximum dose of 40 mg per day. Rosuvastatin's starting dose is 5 mg once daily, with administration at any time of the day regardless of meals. The maintenance dose is 10 mg once daily, and if necessary, may be increased to a maximum of 20 mg per day.
