Treatment of hypertension and hypercholesterolemia (including reduction of cardiovascular disease risk)
This medication is used for patients requiring simultaneous administration of olmesartan medoxomil and rosuvastatin. Olmesartan medoxomil helps treat essential hypertension. Rosuvastatin improves hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia that are not controlled by diet and exercise, and it is also used as an adjunctive therapy for homozymous familial hypercholesterolemia. Additionally, it helps lower cholesterol levels in patients with hypercholesterolemia, delays the progression of atherosclerosis, and serves as an adjunctive therapy for diet in cases of abnormal beta-lipoproteinemia. For high-risk patients with cardiovascular disease, it aids in reducing the risks of stroke, myocardial infarction, and vascular reconstruction. Thus, this medication is effectively used for the treatment of hypertension and various lipid abnormalities as well as for reducing cardiovascular risks.
Olmesartan Medoxomil The recommended initial dose for adults is 10 mg taken once daily, regardless of meals. If blood pressure is not controlled, the dosage may be increased to 20 mg once daily, with a maximum dose of 40 mg. Rosuvastatin The initial dose is 5 mg once daily, and if necessary, the dose may be adjusted to 10 mg for maintenance. The maximum dose is 20 mg once daily. Regardless of meals, dosing can be done at any time of the day.
