Treatment of hypertension and hypercholesterolemia, and reduction of cardiovascular disease risk
This medication is used for patients who require concomitant therapy with olmesartan medoxomil and rosuvastatin. Olmesartan medoxomil helps to treat essential hypertension. Rosuvastatin is used as an adjunct therapy for patients with hypercholesterolemia or hyperlipidemia when diet and exercise are insufficient. Additionally, it contributes to slowing the progression of atherosclerosis and reducing the risks of stroke, myocardial infarction, and vascular interventions in patients at high risk of cardiovascular diseases. This medication is used to improve cardiovascular health through the control of hypertension and cholesterol.
This medication is administered only to adults, and the dose should be individualized based on the effect and tolerability of olmesartan medoxomil and rosuvastatin for each patient. ◆ Olmesartan medoxomil 1. Adults - The recommended initial dose is 10mg once daily, administered irrespective of meals. - If blood pressure is not adequately controlled, the dose may be increased to 20mg once daily, with a maximum increase up to 40mg.
Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years have not been established.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Individuals allergic to this medication or its components should not take it, and women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should not use it. Patients with severely impaired renal function, those undergoing renal dialysis, severe liver dysfunction, and those with bile duct obstruction should not take this medication. Caution should be taken as the risk of muscle damage may increase in patients with muscle-related diseases or in those using certain medications concomitantly. This medication contains lactose, so patients with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance or galactose intolerance should avoid it. Patients with low blood pressure or insufficient body salt may experience hypotension during the initial doses, and should monitor their condition carefully. Patients with impaired renal function or renal transplant recipients should have their renal function and electrolyte status checked periodically through blood tests. Due to the risk of hyperkalemia, it is important to regularly monitor blood potassium levels. Patients with a history of excessive alcohol intake or liver diseases should undergo regular liver function tests while taking this medication. If symptoms like muscle pain or weakness occur, inform the doctor immediately and undergo necessary tests; in severe cases, usage should be discontinued. This medication may interact with other drugs, so inform a healthcare provider about any other medications being taken. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant must consult a doctor and use appropriate contraception. Safety and effectiveness in children or adolescents under 18 have not been established, so use should be avoided. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension or palpitations may occur, and immediate medical attention must be sought. Store this medication out of reach of children, and it is advisable not to transfer it to another container.
