Treatment of hypertension and hyperlipidemia (cholesterol regulation)
This medication is used for patients who need to take Olmesartan Medoxomil and Rosuvastatin together. Olmesartan Medoxomil is effective for the treatment of essential hypertension. Rosuvastatin, on the other hand, is used as an adjunct in patients with hypercholesterolemia and hyperlipidemia when dietary adjustments and exercise alone do not suffice. Additionally, it helps reduce cholesterol levels in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia and delays the progression of atherosclerosis when used in conjunction with other therapies. It is also effective in reducing the risks of stroke, myocardial infarction, and artery revascularization in patients at high risk for cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, this medication is used to treat both hypertension and dyslipidemia concurrently.
Olmesartan Medoxomil: The recommended initial dosage is 10 mg once daily, administered regardless of food intake. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled, the dosage may be increased to 20 mg, with a maximum dosage of 40 mg. Rosuvastatin: The initial dosage is 5 mg once daily, and if needed, it may be adjusted to 10 mg as the maintenance dose. This can be increased to a maximum of 20 mg.
The safety and efficacy of this medication in children under 18 years of age have not been established; therefore, it should not be administered.

Patients with impaired kidney function or kidney transplant recipients should have serum potassium and creatinine levels regularly checked, and those with renal artery stenosis should be cautious as well. This medication can raise blood potassium levels, and patients at risk for hyperkalemia should regularly monitor their serum potassium concentration. Patients with aortic or mitral valve stenosis, as well as obstructive or hypertrophic heart disease, require special caution when taking this medication. This medication may cause dizziness, so caution is advised when driving or operating hazardous machinery. Individuals with a history of liver disease or excessive alcohol consumption should undergo regular liver function tests before and during treatment with this medication. Muscle pain or myopathy, and rarely rhabdomyolysis may occur; therefore, if symptoms of muscle pain or weakness develop, health care personnel should be notified immediately. Taking this medication alongside certain drugs (e.g., potassium-sparing diuretics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, lithium, etc.) may increase the risk of side effects due to interactions, so caution is warranted. Pregnant or possibly pregnant women must use appropriate contraceptive methods and discontinue the medication immediately if there is a pregnancy. Breastfeeding women may have adverse effects on their infants when using this medication, so either breastfeeding should be terminated or the medication should be discontinued. This medication is not recommended for use in children under the age of 18, as safety and efficacy have not been established. Elderly patients may have increased serum concentrations of this medication, thus requiring dosage adjustment and caution.
