Adult dose

Olmesartan Medoxomil: The recommended initial dose is 10 mg once daily, regardless of meals. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled, it can be increased to 20 mg once daily, with a maximum of 40 mg per day. For patients with renal impairment (creatinine clearance 30-60 mL/min), the maximum dose is 20 mg once daily. No dose adjustment is needed for patients with mild liver impairment, while moderate liver impairment requires an initial dose adjustment.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy have not been established for children under 18 years, so it should not be administered.

This medication can cause serious harm or death to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second or third trimester of pregnancy, so it must be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients who are hypersensitive to this medication, pregnant, or potentially pregnant women, and nursing mothers should not take it, especially fertile women not using appropriate contraception should be cautious. Do not administer it to patients with severely impaired kidney function or those undergoing dialysis, severe liver disease, bile duct obstruction, and certain muscle disorders. This medication contains lactose and should not be taken by patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders. Patients with decreased blood volume or low sodium levels may experience hypotensive symptoms when starting this medication, so their condition should be closely monitored. Patients with impaired kidney function or those who have undergone kidney transplantation should have their potassium and creatinine levels checked regularly. Due to the risk of hyperkalemia, serum potassium levels should be frequently monitored, and special caution should be taken with cardiovascular disease patients or those with specific heart valve diseases while taking this medication. Muscle pain or myopathy may occur, and in rare cases, rhabdomyolysis may occur, so any unusual muscle symptoms should be reported to healthcare personnel immediately. Patients with a history of excessive alcohol intake or liver disease should have regular liver function tests and use this medication with caution. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur, so caution is needed when driving or operating dangerous machinery. This medication may interact with other specific drugs, so it is essential to consult with healthcare personnel if you are taking any other medications. Pregnant and nursing women should avoid taking this medication, and women who might become pregnant should use appropriate contraception. Safety has not been established for children and adolescents under 18 years old, so its use is not recommended. Elderly patients may have higher drug concentrations in their bodies, so monitoring of dosage and condition is necessary. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension or cardiac arrhythmias may occur; thus, immediate medical assistance is required, and specific antidotes are not available, so symptomatic treatment is important. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container may affect its quality.

Serious side effects

Hives, severe swelling (angioedema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, paleness, severe rash with fever, blisters, peeling skin, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory distress accompanied by cough and fever, jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes), extreme tiredness, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances, paralysis.
