View approved original text

This medicine is used as an adjunct to dietary management for patients with endogenous hypertriglyceridemia to reduce elevated triglyceride levels. It can be administered alone for hypertriglyceridemia (type IV) and is used in combination with statins for patients with mixed type (type IIb) hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia. In particular, it enhances efficacy when used with statins even when triglyceride levels are not well controlled. This therapeutic approach helps improve triglyceride and cholesterol levels.
