Precautions

This medication may affect liver function, so if symptoms of liver dysfunction or jaundice occur, use should be discontinued immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. This drug contains zinc which may interfere with copper absorption in the body, so appropriate measures are needed if symptoms of copper deficiency, such as anemia or decreased blood cells, appear. Hypersensitivity reactions may occur, so usage should be discontinued if symptoms such as rash, itching, or urticaria appear. Rarely, symptoms such as decreased blood cell counts, elevation of liver enzyme levels, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea may occur, so if these symptoms appear, consultation with a healthcare professional is advised. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should only use this medication when the therapeutic benefits outweigh the risks as its safety has not been established. If breastfeeding, it is advisable to avoid breastfeeding as the drug may be passed to the infant through breast milk. The safety in children has not been established, and there is no experience of use, so caution is required. Elderly patients may have decreased digestive function, so the dosage should be reduced and patient condition should be closely monitored during administration. This medication may interact with other drugs; particular caution should be taken when used with penicillamine or levothyroxine sodium as efficacy may be reduced, so they should not be taken simultaneously. When storing, keep out of reach of children, and it is important not to transfer to another container to maintain quality.
