This medication is used to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. Additionally, nutritional counseling, weight loss, and continued exercise therapy are necessary to better maintain the effectiveness of medication treatment. This medication helps improve blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is taken orally once a day regardless of meals. The therapy starts with 15 mg once a day and can be increased to 30 mg once a day if not sufficiently effective. Precautions

This medication is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes and works to improve insulin resistance. When taking this medication, there is a risk of heart failure occurring or worsening, so weight changes, breathing difficulties, swelling, and other symptoms should be closely monitored. Patients with heart failure or a history of heart failure should not use this medication, and if symptoms of heart failure appear, a doctor should be consulted immediately. This medication can cause fluid retention, which may lead to swelling; therefore, if swelling symptoms arise, medical staff should be informed. Additionally, this medication is not administered to patients with a history of bladder cancer or currently active bladder cancer. It is also safe not to use this medication in cases of poor liver function or severe renal impairment. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not use this medication, and women who are premenopausal should exercise appropriate contraception during treatment as there may be an increased chance of becoming pregnant while taking this medication. There is a risk of hypoglycemia, so when combined with insulin or other hypoglycemic agents, one should be cautious for symptoms of hypoglycemia, and dosage adjustment of other medications may be necessary. Routine liver function tests should be conducted while using this medication, and if symptoms of liver dysfunction arise, medical staff should be informed immediately. If sudden weight gain, swelling, or shortness of breath occurs during treatment, consult a physician immediately. Elderly patients or those with renal function impairment require even more careful monitoring during treatment with this medication. In the case of overdose, even in the absence of specific symptoms, contact a medical institution immediately to receive appropriate treatment. This medication may interact with certain drugs, so be sure to inform medical staff of any other medications being taken. Finally, this medication has not established safety or efficacy in children, so it is not to be used in this population.
