Treatment and prevention of gastroesophageal reflux disease (erosive reflux esophagitis), Helicobacter pylori infection (duodenal ulcers), and relief of gastrointestinal symptoms associated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
This medication is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease and the long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence of erosive reflux esophagitis. It also helps to alleviate the symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. It is used in combination with antibiotics to treat and prevent recurrence of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers associated with Helicobacter pylori infection. It is effective for treating gastrointestinal symptoms related to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug use and also for the treatment and prevention of gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers. It may also be utilized for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and for maintenance therapy after preventing rebleeding of gastric or duodenal ulcers. Thus, it is widely used for the treatment of various gastrointestinal disorders and symptom improvement.
This medication should be swallowed with liquid such as water and should not be chewed or crushed. 1) Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: Administer 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. - Long-term maintenance therapy for preventing recurrence in esophagitis patients: Administer 20 mg once daily. - Symptomatic treatment regimen of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: Administer 20 mg once daily.
Adolescents over 12 years old 1) Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: Administer 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. - Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis
This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, individuals allergic to this drug or its ingredients, or those allergic to specific antibiotics should not take it. Additionally, it is advisable for women with heart disease or those who are breastfeeding to avoid using this drug. Be cautious as various side effects may occur when taking this medication. Common side effects include headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and constipation, while serious reactions such as blood abnormalities or skin rashes may occur rarely. Regular check-ups are necessary with long-term use, especially for those taking the drug for more than a year, to periodically check magnesium levels and bone health.
