This medication is used to treat gastric diseases such as gastric and duodenal ulcers and gastritis, and to improve symptoms like heartburn, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and belching due to hyperacidity. By neutralizing stomach acid, it stabilizes the gastric condition and alleviates discomfort. Thus, it effectively improves various symptoms associated with indigestion.

How to take

Adult dose

As Almagate, take 1 g orally three times a day, chewing after meals for 30 minutes to 1 hour. An additional dose may be taken before bedtime if needed.

Child dose

Children over 12 years should take the same dosage as adults.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals who have allergies to this medication or its components. Patients with Alzheimer's disease, hemorrhoids, fluid retention, pre-eclampsia, diarrhea, and those diagnosed with gastrointestinal bleeding should also avoid this medication. Additionally, this medication contains lactose, so individuals with lactose intolerance or certain genetic metabolic disorders should not take it. During the course of taking this medication, it should not be taken together with tetracycline antibiotics as they may interfere with each other's absorption. If taking other medications, consult a doctor or pharmacist since this medication may affect the absorption or excretion of those medications. Particularly, patients with poor kidney function need to be cautious as magnesium or aluminum contained in this medication may accumulate in the body. Also, individuals with weak physical conditions, lack of phosphorus intake, malabsorption disorders, elderly patients, patients with symptoms of gastrointestinal bleeding, and pregnant or nursing women should consult a professional before taking this medication. If gastrointestinal symptoms such as constipation or diarrhea occur during use or if symptoms do not improve after two weeks, stop taking it immediately and consult a professional. Always follow the prescribed dosage and administration, and if children are taking this medication, supervision and guidance from a guardian are necessary. Store this medication out of the reach of children, in the original container, away from direct sunlight, and in a cool, dry place.

Do not take this medication with tetracycline antibiotics. Co-administration may inhibit absorption. There may be interactions with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), ulcer medications, digoxin, chlorpromazine, lansoprazole, prednisolone, penicillin, quinolones, iron (Fe) supplements, and salicylates, so consult your doctor or pharmacist.
