The combination therapy of amlodipine and olmesartan medoxomil is used when blood pressure is poorly controlled in patients with essential hypertension. These medications work by dilating blood vessels to lower blood pressure, and taking them together can enhance the effect. Therefore, it is used to improve blood pressure control in essential hypertension.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is taken once daily with water, regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). The recommended dosage is as follows: - 5/20/12.5 mg: Given to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine/olmesartan medoxomil 5/20 mg combination therapy. - 5/40/12.5 mg: Given to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine/olmesartan medoxomil 5/40 mg combination therapy.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy for pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, so administration of this medication is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. During use, symptoms such as dizziness or drowsiness may occur, so caution is advised when driving or operating hazardous machinery. Elderly patients or those with diabetes should pay particular attention to kidney function and blood sugar levels while taking this medication. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, palpitations, or dehydration may occur, so if these symptoms occur, seek medical attention immediately.
