View approved original text

This medication is primarily used for endogenous hypertriglyceridemia, especially type IV monotherapy and type IIb, which is a combination of hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia. Additionally, it is used in patients with type IIb whose triglyceride levels are not well controlled, in combination with statin medications, to effectively improve blood lipid levels. This drug aids in lowering blood triglyceride levels, thereby reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Patients are encouraged to take it regularly along with dietary management, which will significantly aid in managing blood lipid levels. Therefore, it is used for treating hypertriglyceridemia and combined hyperlipidemia.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients with hypersensitivity to its components or children under 18 years old. Patients at high risk of bleeding due to severe trauma or surgery, patients with poor liver function, and those allergic to fish should exercise special caution when using this medication. During treatment, patients may experience various adverse reactions such as back pain, cold symptoms, indigestion, rashes, and taste abnormalities; if symptoms are severe, consultation with a physician is advised. Before starting treatment, it is important to check the patient's serum triglyceride levels, and if dietary adjustments and exercise are necessary, reducing weight should be prioritized. Regular blood tests to monitor triglyceride levels, liver function, and cholesterol levels should be conducted during the treatment period. Patients taking anticoagulants or aspirin should be closely monitored for bleeding symptoms as this may increase the risk of bleeding when using this medication together. During pregnancy, the safety for the fetus has not been sufficiently established; it should only be used when there is a significant therapeutic need, and nursing mothers should use it cautiously. In cases of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so appropriate treatment and supportive therapy according to symptoms will be necessary. It is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years of age, as safety and efficacy have not been established. Elderly patients over 65 showed no significant differences in clinical trials, but caution is needed based on individual conditions.
