Improvement in blood sugar control for Type 2 diabetes
This medication is used to help control blood sugar levels in patients with Type 2 diabetes. It can be administered as a standalone therapy for initial treatment, and if blood sugar control is challenging with monotherapy, it can be taken in combination with metformin or sulfonylureas. Additionally, if blood sugar control is still insufficient with insulin therapy or multiple drug combinations, this medication may be added. It helps improve blood sugar management at various stages of treatment to maintain a healthy blood sugar state.
The recommended dose of this medication is 5 mg once daily. It can be taken regardless of meals.
This medication should not be used by individuals who have an allergic reaction to this drug's active ingredient or other components. It is also safe not to administer to patients with Type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Caution is necessary when used with insulin or sulfonylurea as they can cause hypoglycemia, as this may increase the risk of low blood sugar. In patients with heart failure, caution should be exercised for those with mild to moderate severity, and it is not recommended for patients with severe heart failure. There is a risk of acute pancreatitis, so if severe abdominal pain or similar symptoms occur, discontinue the medication immediately and consult a physician. During the use of this medication, bullous skin disease such as pemphigoid may appear, so if any unusual skin symptoms occur, stop taking the medication immediately and seek medical attention from a specialist. This medication can cause hypoglycemic symptoms, so it is essential to be well-informed about the symptoms of low blood sugar, especially when using it in combination with other hypoglycemic agents. Pregnant or nursing women should avoid using this medication as its safety is not established. There have not been sufficient clinical trials in children and adolescents, so it is not recommended for these groups. For elderly patients, no significant dose adjustment is required, but they should follow their physician's instructions based on their condition. Patients with decreased kidney or liver function can use it without dose adjustments, but their condition should be closely monitored. In the case of overdose, the remaining medication in the gastrointestinal tract should be removed, symptoms should be monitored, and appropriate treatment should be provided if necessary. This medication has a low risk of interaction with other drugs, but it is safe to consult a physician or pharmacist when used with specific medications. Keep out of the reach of children and do not transfer to other containers.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
