This medication is used to effectively control cholesterol and triglyceride levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed hyperlipidemia. It is administered as an adjunct therapy to specifically lower LDL cholesterol and apolipoprotein B levels, and to raise HDL cholesterol levels. For patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, it can be used in combination with or as an alternative to other lipid-lowering therapies. This medication is suitable for cases where dietary and non-pharmacological measures are insufficient, and it is administered considering the overall risk factors of the patient. Secondary causes such as diabetes or hypothyroidism should be identified and treated if necessary before administration. This medication is helpful in preventing cardiovascular diseases by improving dyslipidemia.
