Effectiveness in improving (hypertension, hyperlipidemia) and reducing the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke
This medication is used for patients who need to take two drugs, Pimasartan and Atorvastatin, simultaneously. Pimasartan primarily helps to control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension. Atorvastatin calcium reduces the risk of cardiovascular events such as myocardial infarction and stroke in patients at high risk of cardiovascular disease, and helps treat hyperlipidemia. In particular, it helps to lower cholesterol levels and increase HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. The combination of these two drugs is used to effectively manage hypertension and the risk of cardiovascular disease.
This medication should be taken once daily, 1 tablet, with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). ○ Pimasartan 1. Adults The recommended dosage is 30 to 60 mg once daily, taken regardless of meals. If blood pressure is not well controlled, the dosage may be increased to 120 mg once daily. ○ Atorvastatin 1. Hyperlipidemia The recommended initial dosage is 10 mg of atorvastatin once daily; for patients requiring more LDL cholesterol reduction, it may be started at 20 mg or 40 mg once daily (only when a reduction of 45% or more in LDL cholesterol is required). This medication can be administered in a dosage range of 10 to 80 mg once daily. The initial and maintenance dosages should be individualized based on treatment goals and patient response, and lipid levels should be analyzed within 2 to 4 weeks after starting treatment and/or adjusting dosages to make necessary adjustments.
This medication may cause serious harm or death to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters. Therefore, use should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. This medication should not be used in patients with impaired liver function, muscle disease, or certain genetic lactose intolerance. Patients with a history of alcohol abuse or liver disease, the elderly, and those with impaired kidney function should take this medication with increased caution, and close monitoring by a physician may be required if necessary. This medication may cause muscle-related side effects such as myalgia, muscle weakness, and muscle damage; therefore, if severe or persistent muscle pain occurs, the physician should be notified immediately. Since this medication may cause blood pressure to drop too low, if symptoms of hypotension occur, immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is advised, especially for patients taking diuretics who should be particularly careful. During the use of this medication, regular liver function tests and blood tests are important to check for liver damage or muscle damage. Interactions may occur when taken with other medications, so it is essential to inform the physician or pharmacist of any other medications being taken. This medication may cause drowsiness or dizziness when driving or operating dangerous machinery, so caution is necessary. Women planning to become pregnant should consult a physician before taking this medication and should use appropriate contraception. Breastfeeding women should discuss with the physician whether to discontinue breastfeeding or the medication, as this medication may affect the baby. Safety and efficacy in children and adolescents under 18 years have not been established, and use should be avoided. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, palpitations, and bradycardia may occur, and immediate emergency treatment should be sought.
