This medication is used to effectively control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension. It also helps reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and mortality due to cardiovascular diseases in patients over 55 years of age who are at high risk for major cardiovascular events. It is particularly beneficial for individuals with a history of coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, or stroke, or those with evidence of end-organ damage due to high-risk diabetes. This effect contributes to protecting patients' cardiovascular health and improving their quality of life.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm, especially to the fetus and newborn, during pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It should not be used in pregnant women, women of childbearing potential, patients with severe liver impairment, hereditary angioedema, and those with specific kidney diseases. Patients who are elderly, have hyperkalemia, liver impairment, cardiovascular disease, or renal artery hypertension should use this medication cautiously and periodically check blood pressure and kidney function. While taking this medication, careful observation is needed as blood pressure may drop excessively or potassium levels may rise. If unusual symptoms such as dizziness, fainting, difficulty breathing, skin rash, or myalgia occur, consult a doctor immediately. Patients with impaired kidney function should particularly monitor serum creatinine and potassium levels frequently, and dosage adjustments may be necessary as needed. Interactions may occur when combined with other antihypertensive medications, so it is essential to inform doctors of any other medications being taken. It is advisable to discontinue this medication 24 hours prior to surgery. It is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18, as safety and efficacy have not been established.
