View approved original text

This medication is used to assist in blood sugar control for patients with type 2 diabetes. It primarily complements dietary and exercise therapy, and can also be used alone. If you have never received treatment for diabetes before but find blood sugar control difficult with monotherapy, it is administered in conjunction with metformin. Additionally, if treatment with metformin or sulfonylureas alone is not sufficient, this medication can be added. It can also be used in combination when blood sugar control is difficult under insulin therapy or multiple drug treatments. Thus, this medication effectively improves blood sugar control in various situations.

Additionally, it may rarely cause a blistering skin disease known as bullous pemphigoid, so if any abnormal skin symptoms arise, promptly discontinue use and inform your healthcare provider. Users should be well aware of the symptoms of hypoglycemia and take appropriate action if any adverse reactions occur. The safety of this medication in pregnant women has not been established, so its use is not recommended; caution is also needed for breastfeeding mothers. This medication has relatively few interactions with other drugs, but caution is required when combined with certain medications, so inform your healthcare provider of any other medications you are taking.
