This medication is used for the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, anastomotic ulcers, and bleeding gastritis caused by peptic ulcers or acute stress ulcers. It is also effective for gastroesophageal reflux disease and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It helps improve gastric mucosal lesions such as erosion, bleeding, redness, and swelling that occur during acute exacerbations of acute and chronic gastritis. This medication alleviates inflammation and damage in the stomach, esophagus, and upper gastrointestinal tract, improving patient symptoms. Overall, it protects the gastric mucosa and promotes wound healing, and is widely used in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases.
1. For gastric and duodenal ulcers, anastomotic ulcers, upper gastrointestinal bleeding, gastroesophageal reflux disease, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: Famotidine 20 mg is taken orally twice daily (after breakfast, after dinner, or at bedtime), or 40 mg once daily (at bedtime). In cases of upper gastrointestinal bleeding, treatment usually begins with injections, and once oral administration is possible, it is switched to oral treatment. 2. For gastric mucosal lesions (

During treatment, serious allergic reactions, blood disorders, skin disorders, liver dysfunction, muscle damage, heart rhythm disturbances, consciousness disturbances, kidney disease, and lung disease may rarely occur, so if symptoms arise, it is crucial to stop taking the medication immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Common side effects may include skin rash, dyspepsia, blood pressure changes, headache, drowsiness, insomnia, depression, muscle cramps, and if these symptoms occur, it is advisable to stop the medication. During treatment, it is important to closely monitor any changes in symptoms and undergo regular blood tests and liver and kidney function tests. This medication dissolves in the mouth but is not absorbed through the mucous membranes, so it must be swallowed with water.
