Improvement of gastric mucosal lesions such as gastric ulcers and upper gastrointestinal bleeding
This medication is used for the treatment of peptic ulcers such as gastric and duodenal ulcers and anastomotic ulcers. It also helps improve upper gastrointestinal bleeding, acute stress ulcers, and bleeding due to hemorrhagic gastritis. It is effective for gastroesophageal reflux disease and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and alleviates symptoms of gastric mucosal lesions, including erosion, bleeding, redness, and swelling during acute exacerbations of acute gastritis and chronic gastritis. It is widely used in the treatment of various gastrointestinal diseases to improve digestive health.
1. Gastric and duodenal ulcers, anastomotic ulcers, upper gastrointestinal bleeding, gastroesophageal reflux disease, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: Famotidine 20mg orally 2 times a day (after breakfast, after dinner, or at bedtime) or 40mg orally once a day (at bedtime). For upper gastrointestinal bleeding, treatment is started with injection, and when oral administration becomes possible, it is switched to oral administration. 2. Acute gastritis and acute exacerbation of chronic gastritis.
This medicine should not be used by individuals who have had allergic reactions to this medication or similar types of drugs. Additionally, this medication contains lactose, so individuals with a genetic condition that prevents the digestion of lactose should also avoid taking it. Caution is required for individuals with a history of drug allergies, those with reduced kidney function, heart disease, poor liver function, and older adults when using this medication. Rarely, serious allergic reactions, blood disorders, severe skin conditions, liver dysfunction, muscle breakdown, cardiac rhythm disturbances, consciousness disorders, nephritis, pneumonia, etc. may occur while taking this medication, so if any symptoms appear, immediate consultation with medical personnel is necessary. Common side effects may include skin rash, digestive disorders, blood pressure changes, headache, drowsiness, depression, muscle cramps, etc. and if such symptoms appear, the medication should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted. During treatment, it is important to closely observe changes in symptoms, use only the minimum effective dose, and consider alternative treatments if there is no efficacy. This medication dissolves in the mouth but is not absorbed through the oral mucosa, so it must be swallowed with water or saliva. Patients receiving hemodialysis should be cautious as taking this medication with certain phosphate binders may reduce its effectiveness. There may be drug interactions, especially when taken with certain antifungal agents or anticancer drugs, which may decrease the effectiveness of this or the other medication, so it is important to inform the doctor. Older adults may have increased drug concentrations due to decreased kidney function, requiring dosage adjustments or interval changes. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication when the benefits outweigh the risks, and breastfeeding women are advised to discontinue breastfeeding as this medication may be transmitted through breast milk. Safety in children has not been established, so its use is not recommended. Finally, this medication may mask the symptoms of gastric cancer, making diagnosis difficult; therefore, it should be used only after confirming that it is not a malignant tumor.
Shock, hypersensitivity (anaphylaxis, respiratory distress, generalized flushing, angioedema, urticaria), pancytopenia, agranulocytosis, aplastic anemia, hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, Lyell syndrome, liver dysfunction, jaundice, rhabdomyolysis, QT prolongation, ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation, consciousness disorders, seizures, interstitial nephritis, acute renal failure, interstitial pneumonia, heart failure.
