Treatment of overactive bladder symptoms (e.g., frequent urination and urinary urgency)
Used to treat symptoms such as urgency incontinence, increased urinary frequency, and urinary urgency caused by overactive bladder.
In adults (including elderly patients), the recommended dose is 5mg once daily. If necessary, the dose may be increased to a maximum of 10mg once daily. This medicine may be taken with or without food and should be swallowed whole with water. Dosage adjustment is required for the following patients. 1. Patients with renal impairment No dosage adjustment is necessary for patients with mild to moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance>30ml/min). Use with caution in patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance≤30ml/min), and do not exceed 5mg once daily. 2. Patients with hepatic impairment No dosage adjustment is necessary for patients with mild hepatic impairment. Use with caution in patients with moderate hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh class B), and do not exceed 5mg once daily. 3. Patients receiving potent cytochrome P450 3A4(CYP3A4) inhibitors For patients receiving ketoconazole or another potent CYP3A4 inhibitor (e.g., ritonavir, nelfinavir, itraconazole), limit the maximum daily dose to 5mg.
This medication should not be used in patients with urinary retention, severe gastrointestinal disease, myasthenia gravis, or narrow-angle glaucoma. Additionally, it should not be administered to individuals with allergies to this drug or its components, those undergoing dialysis, or patients with severe liver or kidney impairment. Patients with genetic metabolic disorders involving certain sugars should also avoid this medication. Caution is advised in patients at risk for urinary retention or those with gastrointestinal obstructive diseases or reduced gastrointestinal motility. Dose adjustment is necessary for patients with severe kidney impairment or moderate liver impairment and those taking strong CYP3A4 inhibitors. Side effects such as dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, urinary retention, and dry eyes can occur with this medication. Serious gastrointestinal issues may arise in cases of high-dose consumption. If serious allergic reactions such as angioedema or anaphylaxis occur, discontinue the medication immediately and seek treatment. Exercise caution when driving or operating machinery due to the potential for drowsiness or blurred vision, which may increase the risk of accidents. This medication may enhance the effects or side effects when used with other anticholinergic drugs, and it can diminish the effects of medications that increase gastrointestinal motility. As this drug is metabolized by the liver, using it with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors may increase blood concentration and risk of side effects. Pregnant women should be cautious as the safety of this medication is not established, and breastfeeding mothers should avoid this medication as it may be excreted in breast milk and could harm the baby. The safety and efficacy for pediatric patients have not been confirmed, so it should not be used in children. In case of overdose, symptoms such as headache, dizziness, drowsiness, and blurred vision may appear, and severe symptoms may require appropriate emergency treatment. Patients with heart disease or those at risk for QT prolongation should be particularly cautious as the risk of cardiac side effects increases with overdose.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a closed container to protect it from air and moisture. It is recommended to keep it at room temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius. Proper storage will help maintain the drug's effectiveness.
