Precautions

This medication should not be given to certain patients. First, patients who have had an allergy to this drug or its components should not use it. Patients with orthostatic hypotension, which can cause sudden drops in blood pressure, should avoid this medication as it may worsen symptoms. Patients with severe liver dysfunction must be cautious as the drug may accumulate in the body. Furthermore, women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take this medication. Patients with severe renal impairment, elderly patients, and those taking PDE5 inhibitors, CYP3A4 inhibitors, or antihypertensive medications should use this drug carefully. In particular, patients taking alpha-1 blockers or with a history of urinary syncope should generally avoid this medication, but must be administered carefully if absolutely necessary. Side effects such as dizziness, headache, dyspepsia, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort may occur while taking this drug. Rarely, fainting or loss of consciousness due to blood pressure drop, skin rash, itching, nausea, vomiting, and liver function abnormalities have been reported. If persistent erections occur, immediate medical attention is necessary as this drug can lead to dangerous conditions. Overdosing on this medication may cause excessively low blood pressure, so it is important to adhere to the prescribed dosage. It is advisable to change positions slowly as blood pressure can drop when standing up. If dizziness or drowsiness occurs, driving or engaging in hazardous activities should be avoided. Although this medication is used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia, which has similar symptoms to prostate cancer, if there is no therapeutic effect, other treatment options such as surgery should be considered. Patients undergoing cataract or glaucoma surgery should inform their doctors before surgery, as intraoperative miosis can occur. Patients with sulfa drug allergies may experience allergic reactions when taking this medication, so caution is warranted. This medication should not be taken with other antihypertensive drugs or PDE5 inhibitors, as it may lead to excessively low blood pressure; consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is necessary. Special caution is required when used in conjunction with certain antifungals, antibiotics, and antidepressants as it may increase drug concentration. This drug should not be used by pregnant or nursing women, or children under 18. Elderly patients with severe renal impairment should be cautious as the safety of this medication has not been established. This medication is an extended-release formulation and should not be chewed or crushed, and must be swallowed whole after removing from the packaging. Keep out of reach of children, and be cautious as transferring to another container may alter its quality.
