Relief of urinary difficulties associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia
Benign prostatic hyperplasia is a condition where the prostate grows larger, causing difficulty in urination. This medication helps alleviate the discomfort of urination by either reducing the size of the prostate or facilitating smoother urination. In summary, it helps improve urinary dysfunction symptoms, primarily used for urinary dysfunction due to benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Adults: Administer 0.4mg of tamsulosin hydrochloride orally once daily after a meal. Swallow this medicine whole; do not crush or chew it.
This medication should not be administered to specific patients. For example, patients who have had allergic reactions to this drug or its components, patients experiencing sudden drops in blood pressure (orthostatic hypotension), patients with severe liver dysfunction, and pregnant or potentially pregnant women should not use this drug. Additionally, patients with severely impaired kidney function, elderly patients, and those taking specific medications (such as PDE5 inhibitors, CYP3A4 inhibitors, antihypertensives, etc.) should use this medication with caution. Especially, patients currently on alpha-1 blockers or those with a history of syncope due to urination should ideally avoid this medication and use it cautiously only when absolutely necessary. Taking this medication can lead to side effects such as dizziness, abdominal discomfort, indigestion, diarrhea, headaches, and decreased semen volume. Rarely, serious side effects such as fainting due to low blood pressure, allergic reactions, liver function abnormalities, and persistent erection may occur, so it's important to inform healthcare professionals immediately if any abnormal symptoms arise. This medication may lower blood pressure, so care should be taken to avoid overdose, and it is advisable to change positions slowly due to potential dizziness upon standing. Furthermore, this drug is not a curative treatment but a symptom-relieving therapy; therefore, if there is no effect, consider other treatment options. Caution is advised while driving or working at heights due to the risk of accidents from dizziness. Patients with allergies to sulfonamide drugs should be especially careful when using this drug. This medication may have interactions with other blood pressure medications or certain antibiotics and antifungals, which could worsen side effects, so patients should disclose any currently prescribed medications to healthcare professionals. Lastly, this medication is not for use in women or children under the age of 18, and elderly patients with severely impaired kidney function should use it with caution as safety has not been established. When taking this medication, carefully check the packaging, and do not chew or crush the extended-release tablets; swallow them whole. Keep this medication out of reach of children and do not transfer it to another container.
