Polamec Tablet (Polaprezinc)

Adult dose

Adults usually take polaprezinc 75mg (1 tablet) orally twice daily, after breakfast and at bedtime.

This medication may affect liver function, so if signs of liver dysfunction or jaundice appear, discontinue use immediately and seek appropriate treatment. This medication contains zinc, which may interfere with copper absorption; therefore, appropriate measures should be taken if symptoms of anemia or pancytopenia arise due to copper deficiency. Hypersensitivity may occur; if skin rash, itching, or urticaria develops, use should be discontinued. Gastrointestinal symptoms may include nausea, dyspepsia, constipation, abdominal bloating, vomiting, heartburn, and diarrhea, so appropriate treatment should be sought if symptoms arise. Liver enzyme levels (AST, ALT, γ-GTP, etc.) may increase during the use of this medication, so regular liver function tests are recommended. This medication may interact with certain drugs, so caution should be taken not to take it simultaneously with penicillamine or levothyroxine sodium. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been established, so those who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult a doctor before taking it. Women who are breastfeeding are advised to avoid this medication as it may be passed into breast milk. The safety of this medication in children has not been confirmed, so it is advisable not to use it in children. Elderly patients may have impaired gastrointestinal function, so doses should be reduced and monitored closely.
