This medication helps improve ischemic symptoms such as ulcers, pain, and cold sensation caused by chronic arterial occlusive disease. Additionally, it prevents recurrence after a cerebral infarction. It is therefore used to improve blood circulation and alleviate related symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

As cilostazol, the usual adult dosage is 200 mg taken orally once a day. This medication should be taken on an empty stomach, avoiding food.

Precautions

This medication may increase heart rate, which can pose a risk of angina symptoms; thus, careful observation of symptoms such as chest pain is necessary. Patients at high risk of bleeding, those with a recent history of hemorrhagic stroke, gastrointestinal bleeding, heart failure, individuals allergic to this medication or its components, or women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication. Patients taking anticoagulants, antiplatelet drugs, thrombolytics, menstruating women, individuals with heart disease, and those with issues related to heart, kidney, or liver function, diabetic patients, hypertensive patients, and those with cardiac arrhythmias should take this medication cautiously. In severe cases, symptoms like bleeding, liver dysfunction, pneumonia, and heart failure may arise; therefore, immediate consultation with medical personnel is required if any abnormal symptoms present. Dizziness may occur when taking this medication, thus caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. Taking this medication with food can increase drug concentration and the risk of side effects; hence, it is recommended to take it on an empty stomach, especially avoiding administration after high-fat meals.
