How to take

Adult dose

Adults: The usual dosage is 0.2 mg of tamsulosin hydrochloride once daily, administered orally after a meal. Swallow this medicine whole. Do not break or chew it. The dose may be adjusted as appropriate according to symptoms.

Precautions

This drug should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients who have had allergic reactions to this drug or its ingredients, patients with orthostatic hypotension due to sudden drops in blood pressure, patients with severe liver dysfunction, and women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not be administered this medication. Caution should be exercised in patients with severe kidney disease, the elderly, and those taking PDE5 inhibitors, CYP3A4 inhibitors, or antihypertensive agents. In particular, patients who are taking alpha-1 blockers or have a history of syncope should generally not receive this drug, but it may be administered cautiously when absolutely necessary. When taking this drug, side effects such as dizziness, blood pressure drops, irregular heartbeats, dyspepsia, and skin rash may occur, so symptoms should be closely monitored. If serious reactions such as syncope or loss of consciousness occur, stop taking the medication immediately and seek medical attention. Since this drug may cause sudden drops in blood pressure during use, patients should rise slowly, and caution should be taken if used with antihypertensive medications or other drugs, as this may further lower blood pressure. This drug should not be used in women who are pregnant or nursing, or in children under 18 years of age. The elderly may have reduced kidney function, so treatment should start with a low dose and gradually increase while monitoring the patient's condition. When taking this drug, it is important to swallow the capsule whole without chewing or opening it, and to take it with water. Particularly, the medication must be removed from PTP packaging for administration, and care should be taken not to swallow the entire packaging. This drug should be stored in a safe place out of reach of children and transferring it to another container should be avoided as it may affect quality. Finally, while this drug is used to alleviate symptoms of prostatic hyperplasia, it is necessary to confirm the presence of cancer beforehand, as there may be similar symptoms to prostate cancer.
