Treatment of acute otitis externa
This medication is used for the treatment of acute otitis externa caused by various bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus mirabilis, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Instill 3 drops of this medication into the infected ear twice daily for 7 days. Shake well before use. Instilling a cold solution into the ear may cause dizziness, so warm the container in the hand for 1-2 minutes before administration. The patient should lie with the infected ear facing upwards while instilling the medication and maintain this position for 30-60 seconds to facilitate absorption.

This medication should not be used by individuals allergic to hydrocortisone, ciprofloxacin, or other quinolone antibiotics. It should also be avoided if there is a perforation in the eardrum or during viral infections such as chickenpox or herpes simplex in the ear. Various side effects, including migraine, skin rash, hair loss, and cough, may occur, and rarely, there may be a decrease in ear sensitivity or hearing issues. If skin redness or allergic reactions occur, stop using the medication immediately and consult a doctor. Long-term use may lead to fungal infections, so if symptoms do not improve after a week of treatment, consultation is necessary. Vision problems may occur; if there is blurred vision or visual impairment, an eye specialist should be consulted. It is advisable to avoid using this medication in conjunction with other ear medications, and research on drug interactions with this medication is still lacking. Caution is needed for pregnant or breastfeeding women, especially while breastfeeding, as it may cause side effects in the baby; consultation with a specialist is recommended. It is safe for children aged 2 and above, but there is insufficient data for children under 2, so caution is advised. This medication should not be used in the eyes or for injection, and care should be taken to keep the container uncontaminated, discarding any remaining medication after treatment. It should not be used for the treatment of otitis media, and alternative therapies should be chosen. Store out of reach of children, avoid transferring to different containers, and store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
