This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension who are not adequately controlling their blood pressure with existing treatments, utilizing a combination of amlodipine and olmesartan medoxomil. The two components work together to dilate blood vessels and effectively lower blood pressure, thus improving hypertension.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication should be taken once daily, with or without meals, along with water. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). The recommended dosing is as follows: - 5/20/12.5mg: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with a combination therapy of amlodipine/olmesartan medoxomil 5/20mg. - 5/40/12.5mg: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with a combination therapy of amlodipine/olmesartan medoxomil 5/40mg.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this medication in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, and therefore, its use is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with allergies to this drug or its components, those with certain heart, kidney, or liver diseases, pregnant or nursing women, and patients with specific electrolyte imbalances should not take this drug. Patients with reduced blood volume or impaired kidney function, as well as those with liver disease, should be particularly cautious while taking this medication, and their condition should be monitored closely during treatment. As this drug lowers blood pressure, it may cause dizziness or hypotension symptoms, so caution is advised when driving or operating dangerous machinery. Routine monitoring of electrolyte levels in the blood should be conducted during the use of this medication, particularly paying attention to the balance of potassium, sodium, calcium, and magnesium. This medication may interact with other antihypertensives, diuretics, lithium, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, so be sure to inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medications you are taking. Some patients may experience side effects such as skin rash, swelling, headache, dizziness, upper respiratory infections, nasopharyngitis, urinary infections, sialadenitis, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, bone marrow suppression, neutropenia/agranulocytosis, hemolytic anemia, aplastic anemia, drug hypersensitivity, hyperkalemia, hypokalemia, loss of appetite, diabetes, hypercalcemia, hyperglycemia, hypomagnesemia, hyponatremia, hypochloremia, hypertriglyceridemia, hypercholesterolemia, hyperuricemia, and hyponatremic. In case of overdose, severe hypotension or cardiac arrhythmias may occur, so care must be taken not to exceed the prescribed dosage, and if overdose is suspected, seek medical attention immediately. The safety and efficacy of this drug in children have not yet been established; therefore, it is recommended that this drug not be given to those under 18 years of age. Elderly patients may have impaired kidney and liver function, so dosage adjustments and precautions are necessary when taking this medication. When storing this medication, keep it in a cool and dry place out of reach of children, and avoid direct sunlight.

Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, paleness, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in mucous membranes of the mouth/eyes, shortness of breath or breathing difficulties, asthma attack, cough with fever accompanying respiratory abnormalities, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), significant overall lethargy, sudden and severe headache, lightning-like headache, seizures, confusion, vision abnormalities, paralysis, urinary changes.
