Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. First, individuals who have had an allergic reaction to this medication or other piroxicam formulations should not take it. Additionally, patients with a specific form of asthma known as aspirin-induced asthma or those with such a history should avoid this medication, as it may cause severe asthma attacks. Patients who have experienced allergic reactions such as hives, nasal inflammation, or angioedema while taking aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should also refrain from using this medication. Furthermore, it is safer for children under 14 years of age not to use this medication. Patients with bronchial asthma should exercise particular caution when using this medication, as severe asthma attacks may occur. When using this medication, side effects such as itching, redness, rash, and dermatitis may occur on the skin. If these symptoms worsen, the use of this medication should be discontinued immediately. Prolonged or excessive use may lead to systemic side effects such as nausea, gastrointestinal discomfort, respiratory difficulties, and kidney problems, so caution is advised. This medication is a treatment that alleviates symptoms, not a drug that treats the underlying cause, so it should be used appropriately for treatment purposes. When there is a skin infection, it may worsen, so it should be used together with antimicrobial or antifungal agents while monitoring the condition closely. When used for chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis, other treatment methods should be considered alongside medication therapy, and side effects should be closely monitored. During pregnancy, especially in the last three months, it should not be used due to risks such as delayed labor, bleeding, and fetal cardiopulmonary issues. In the early to mid-stages of pregnancy, animal studies did not show significant problems for the fetus; however, sufficient research in humans is lacking, so caution is advised. Breastfeeding women should refrain from using this medication, as it may be partially excreted in breast milk. Its safety has not been established for premature infants, neonates, infants, and children, so it should be avoided in these populations. Elderly patients are at higher risk for side effects, so use the minimum necessary dose cautiously. This medication should not be applied to areas of the skin that have wounds, inflammation, infection, or burns, nor should it be applied to eyes or mucous membranes. Additionally, using it with occlusive dressings is prohibited. In cases of skin damage, temporary irritation may occur with the use of this medication, so caution is necessary.
